According to Patrick Kersalé (see his CD booklet 'Vietnam: Anthology of Ede Music'), the Bro zither is a gourd zither with two metal strings and five keys. The 'soundboard' is made of a bamboo tube approximately 110 to 120 cm long. The Bro is traditionally played solo or to accompany songs, in the morning to wake the guests of the house, or to accompany singing, to lull children to sleep, or to accompany the pounding of rice.

D'après Patrick Kersalé (voir son livret de CD 'Viet Nam : anthologie de la musique Ede'), la cithare 'bro' est une cithare sur calebasse à deux cordes métalliques et cinq touches. La 'table' est constituée d'un tube de bambou d'environ 110 à 120 cm de longueur. Le bro est traditionnellement joué en solo ou pour accompagner des chants, le matin pour réveiller les hôtes de la maison, ou bien pour accompagner des chants, bercer des enfants, accompagner le pilage du riz.
