According to Patrick Kersalé (see the booklet for his CD 'Vietnam: Anthology of Ede Music'), the Ding Nam is a mouth organ with six bamboo pipes open at both ends, each fitted on its lower lateral side with a free bamboo reed. All the pipes pass through a gourd that serves as an air distribution chamber.

D'après Patrick Kersalé (voir le livret de son CD 'Viet Nam : anthologie de la musique Ede'), le ding nam est un orgue à bouche à six tuyaux de bambou ouverts aux deux extrémités, chacun étant muni sur sa partie latérale inférieure, d'une anche libre en bambou. L'ensemble des tuyaux traverse une courge faisant office de chambre de distribution de l'air.
