According to Patrick Kersalé (see the booklet for his CD 'Vietnam: Anthology of Ede Music,' 'World Music' series), the Ding Tut is an ensemble of six end-blown flutes played polyphonically by six women. Each instrument consists of a simple bamboo tube. The tubes are roughly tuned by cutting them to the desired length, and then their relative tuning is refined by adding water to the bottom of each tube. The Ding Tut is played at funerals, as well as in the fields at the beginning of the rainy season.

D'après Patrick Kersalé (voir le livret de son CD 'Viet Nam : anthologie de la musique Ede', coll. 'Musique du Monde'), le ding tut est un ensemble de six flûtes à embouchure terminale jouées en polyphonie par six femmes. Chaque instrument est constitué d'un simple tube de bambou. On accorde grossièrement les tuyaux en les coupant à la longueur souhaitée puis on affine leur accordage relatif en ajoutant de l'eau au fond de ceux-ci.
Le ding tut est joué lors des funérailles, ainsi que dans les champs au début de la saison des pluies.
