Original description

en Mappadéndang: ritual battery of rice mortars at the harvest festival. Four girls in the center play a regular rhythm, three young men on each side play a syncopated rhythm (6 boys and 4 girls). Demonstration of spectators during silat performances, combat dance. South Celebes Islands, A'banuangé near Paré-Paré. Field recordings of Christian Pelras during an expedition in Indonesia in 1972.
fr Mappadéndang: batterie rituelle des mortiers à riz à la fête de la moisson. Quatre filles au centre jouent un rythme régulier, trois jeunes hommes à chq côté jouent un rythme syncopé (6 garçons et 4 filles). Manifestation des spectateurs à l'occasion des prestations de silat, danse de combat. Ile de Célèbes-Sud, A'banuangé près de Paré-Paré. Enregistrements inédits de Christian Pelras lors d'un terrain en Indonésie en 1972.
