Comment
en During a festive occasion, a wedding for example, large quantities of rice must be pounded in large mortars in a row. This work becomes a collective game between young boys and girls and an opportunity to flirt. Here, it was the reception in the big house accompanied by the percussion of drums, tewung and gongs as well as clashing sections of bamboo. Comments from the ethnographer in the middle. Various rhythmic patterns created by the pestles, struck in the mortar, with the boys and girls singing in unison, accompanied by shouts of joy and a chorus of ascending and descending glissandi. Wave-like effects created by the ostinato of the bamboo.
