en Private recording at my request. This song is sung in the village during the second part of the annual ritual festival dedicated to sung poetry. The sung poem recounts the journey of the scholar, from his childhood when he learns Chinese characters to the literary competitions. If he succeeds, he will become a mandarin; otherwise, a schoolteacher in the village. The 'DAN DAY' is a three-stringed lute with a bottomless body. The 'TRONG CHAU' is a two-headed drum played with a bare hand and a wooden stick.
fr Enregistrement privé à ma demande. Ce chant est chanté au village durant la deuxième partie des fêtes rituelles annuelles consacrée à la poésie chantée. Le poème chanté relate le parcours du lettré, depuis son enfance lorsqu'il apprend les caractères chinois jusqu'aux épreuves de concours littéraires. S'il les réussit, il deviendra mandarin, sinon maître d'école au village. Le 'DAN DAY' est un luth à 3 cordes dont la caisse est sans fond.
Le 'TRONG CHAU' est un tambour à 2 membranes frappé avec une main nue et une baguette en bois.
