Description

en The Berliner Phonogramm-Archiv is a collection of ethnomusicological recordings, mostly on phonographic cylinders, assembled since 1900 in Berlin, Germany by the institution of the same name.
The Berlin Phonogramm Archiv (Phonograph Archive) has a collection of early phonograph cylinder recordings from between 1893 and 1954, encompassing more than 16,000 original wax cylinders from all over the world. This collection helped establish the academic discipline of comparative musicology/ethnomusicology that is internationally recognised today.
