This collection gathers recordings by Dana Rappoport from in-depth fieldwork carried out in two villages at the eastern tip of the island of Flores, on the Tanjung Bunga peninsula, between 2009 and 2017, on the tracks of Jaap Kunst first recordings in 1930. On this peninsula, music is sung mainly in duets, based on a special type of polyphony, defined by the quality of “roughness”, a sound quality created by fast beating between the two voices. Some music from Easter in Larantuka are also accessible.

Cette collection correspond aux enquêtes approfondies de Dana Rappoport menées dans deux villages de la presqu’île de Tanjung Bunga, à la pointe orientale de l’île de Flores, entre 2009 et 2017. Ici, la musique est exclusivement chantée en duos non mixtes, en polyphonie de battements, un art vocal rare et singulier, isolat unique en Indonésie. Elle regroupe également des musiques du rituel de Pâques à Larantuka.
