Comment
"The Gandrung is a dance which takes from the Legong and the Djogéd, but whose figure is a young boy. The orchestra is much larger than that of the Djogéd; likewise, the scale is different. The Gandrung has completely disappeared , nowadays, at least as a dance. And as for the orchestras, I found more in Bali only this one which was still in activity. Like the Djogéd Bungbung, it is composed almost exclusively of bamboo instruments. C t is a sort of popular Gamelan Gong: the same scale, the pélog and, roughly, the same instruments, bamboo taking the place of bronze.” Louis Berthe, cf. back of the cover of the disc "Gamelans of Bali - Music of the Gods, music of Men" (CNRSMH_E_1965_007_001_001_09)
