Survey of the oral literature of the Yami. Sian-Parokso (Father-of-Little-rude-and-black) was the great specialist in stories of "wandering dead" (anito) in the village of Jiraraley. Myth of the origin of fire, this one tells us how "the dead of the caves of Ji-Karahem" gave fire to hungry human beings so that they could cook their food. "The Great Canoe of the Anito" (anito no cinedkeran) deals with the first rites of launching boats, in particular the demonstration of force of the anito and their howls which terrify humans. From now on, during the "great expulsion of the dead from the boat" (mangaoy), all the men of the village come to surround the boat, their eyes bulging, stamping their feet, their fists turning sharply at chest height, stamping their feet in anger, blowing and shouting as if to "fight against the boat" and against the spirits of the most recent dead of the lineage.
