Flores island, Kabupaten Flores Timur, Kecamatan TANJUNG BUNGA, in the village of RiangKotek (Keywords): road songs - counterpoint - polyphony Alternating opak reciters: Rafael Regi Liwun, from Kawaliwu Bernardus Bala Ruron, from Lamatou Simon Suban Hewen, from Lamatou Nuku blaha (long soloists) Petrus pati Liwun Hode' ana' (duettists) Petrus Gawa Hewen Simong Sogen Hewen Paulus Hike Ruron Lado Koten Ritual of birth - ritual of emerging from seclusion of the newborn (lodon ana' "to drop the child" ). This ritual is unique to the Liwun clan. The singers from the village of Lamatou are invited by the Liwun family living in Riang Kotek, 2 or 3 km away. All night long, they dance in front of the Liwun clan house. I recorded all night from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. to get the lyrics to the origin myth of the Liwun clan. Battery problem hence economy: I didn't record all the duettists but I concentrated on the story.
