Chargée du département d'Océanie du Musée de l'homme, elle part en 1954 en Nouvelle-Guinée en coopération avec la recherche scientifique australienne. Elle s’est installée environ un an dans le village de Mapos chez les Buang. Puis, elle a descendu le Sepik, d’Ambunti à Angoram et poursuivit vers la région Murik. In charge of the Oceania department at the Musée de l'Homme, she left in 1954 for New Guinea in cooperation with Australian scientific research. She settled for about a year in the village of Mapos among the Buang people. Then, she traveled down the Sepik River, from Ambunti to Angoram, and continued on to the Murik region. She finished her journey in the Highlands in 1955.
