“Crying over deceased parents” tune on köni fiddle
Recorded in situ. Announcement by J. Dournes. Unpublished sound recordings of instrumental/vocal melodies and instrumental performances made by Jacques Dournes from 1963 to 1964 in Vietnam with the Jarai population. Playing the monochord fiddle “köni” implies that the musician also produces sounds with his voice: a string attached to the string of the instrument is held in his mouth. He hums through gritted teeth. Recording: 19cm/s, 1/2 Track B. Average sound qualities (barking, cricket cry). See archive file. Archivist(s): Tran Quang Hai, Aliénor Anisensel.

Cf. DT; rédacteurs fiche: Tran Quang Hai, Aliénor Anisensel •
