Dông-köni solo, zither-fiddle on calabash resonator

Recording in situ. Announcement by J. Dournes. Special features: the piece is played by a single musician who combines the two instruments (the fiddle “köni” and the two-stringed zither "dong"). Furthermore, playing the monochord fiddle “köni” implies that the musician also produces sounds with his voice: a string attached to the string of the instrument is held in his mouth. He hums through gritted teeth. Unpublished sound recordings of instrumental/vocal melodies and instrumental games made by Jacques Dournes from 1963 to 1964 in Vietnam with the Jarai population.
