Timang soak, Song of three healers
Field recordings made in West Kalimantan, Indonesia, in 1997 by D. Rappoport :Dayak, Iban, Kayan populations. Three male singers: Abang Pulo', 58 years old (or 43?) Yohanes Tantang, 40 years old, Herculanus Kapat, 40 years old timang soak, Male singing (= manggin for women): Alternating ritual singing, praise 1 leader leads and the others respond. The leader seems to improvise ("radio, rakam, tana orang putih). The melody is beautiful. The to maloi ("those who follow") have rather ugly voices. What is beautiful is the tiling. When they finish, Pulo resumes a sentence.

Pemimpinnya tampak berimprovisasi (“radio, rakam, tana orang putih). Melodinya indah. To maloi (“yang mengikuti”) suaranya agak jelek. Yang indah adalah tilingnya. Setelah selesai, Pulo melanjutkan a kalimat.
