Field recordings made in West Kalimantan, Indonesia, in 1997 by D. Rappoport :Dayak, Iban, Kayan populations. Manimang, timang: Sing; somba: prayer. -Abang Pulo', Balian man, 58 years old (1) -Punai, woman, 80 years old, long ears (2) - Ampe Sawan, woman, 60 years old (3) The three are Balian (healers). Before singing, give the ancestors a drink. Chanting alternates between 1 and 2 then between 1, 2, 3. The Singers tell me that they have come into contact with the "souls" (sai) and that they cannot return alone.

Les trois sont balien (guérisseurs). Avant de chanter, donnent à boire aux ancêtres.
Chant alterné entre 1 et 2 puis entre 1, 2, 3.
Les Chanteurs me disent qu'ils sont entrés en contacts avec les"âmes"(sai) et qu'elles ne peuvent revenir seules.

Manimang, timang: Bernyanyi; somba: doa. -Abang Pulo', Laki-laki Balian, 58 tahun (1) -Punai, perempuan, 80 tahun, telinga panjang (2) - Ampe Sawan, perempuan, 60 tahun (3) Ketiganya adalah Balian (tabib). Sebelum bernyanyi, berilah minuman kepada leluhur. Nyanyian bergantian antara 1 dan 2 lalu antara 1, 2, 3. Para Penyanyi memberitahu saya bahwa mereka telah melakukan kontak dengan "jiwa" (sai) dan mereka tidak dapat kembali sendirian.
