en Music played on gongs and drums on various occasions: to call the wind, to escort the bride to the groom, during funeral ceremonies, to welcome guests, to celebrate the arrival of corn (makan jagung baru), when ritual specialists (ata molan) sit in front of stones (batu lapa taran)
During wedding ceremonies, each party (the groom's family and the bride's family) arrives with its own set of gongs.
The Bawa is a double-skinned drum (made from deer skin), approximately 60 cm long.
The Kedang people make extensive use of gong sets, unlike their Lamaholot neighbors. There are different types of gongs. In total, there are six gongs played by three musicians (Pa' Buyanaya says that there used to be seven). One player strikes a small gong, one player strikes two gongs, and one player strikes three suspended gongs.
