Original description

en Recorded in situ. Announcement by J. Dournes. Unpublished sound recordings of instrumental/vocal melodies and instrumental plays made by Jacques Dournes from 1963 to 1964 in Vietnam with the Jarai population.  VIELE: monochord fiddle "köni"; CITHAR: two-stringed zither "ddong". Particularities: the piece is played by a single musician who combines the two instruments (the fiddle "köni" and the two-stringed zither "ddong"). Furthermore, playing the monochord fiddle "köni" implies that the musician also produces sounds with his voice: a string attached to the string of the instrument is held by his mouth. He hums through gritted teeth. See DT; archivist(s): Tran Quang Hai, Aliénor Anisensel.
Cf. DT; Archivist(s): Tran Quang Hai, Aliénor Anisensel.
